Our commitment

Sprout Realty is committed to making housing information available to everyone, including people who use assistive technology. Accessibility is a fair housing issue before it is a technical one: information about where to live should not be harder to reach for some people than others.

The standard we build to

We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the standard referenced by the Department of Justice for web accessibility and the one we hold new work to.

What that means in practice

Contrast. Every text style on this site is measured against the background it is actually painted on and must meet AA — 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large. This is checked automatically before each release rather than reviewed by eye.

Keyboard. Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, focus is always visible, and a skip link is the first thing in the tab order.

Structure. One h1 per page, headings in order, landmarks on every region, and form fields with real labels rather than placeholder text.

Motion. Animation is decoration. Nothing you need to read is hidden until you scroll, and everything respects the operating system’s reduce-motion setting.

Images. Meaningful images carry alternative text; decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology instead of being described pointlessly.

Where we know we fall short

Property search currently runs on a third-party platform while our own listing feed is provisioned. We do not control that platform’s accessibility. If you have difficulty using it, call us and an agent will run any search for you and send the results in whatever format works — email, print or over the phone. That is not a workaround we are satisfied with, and it goes away when the search moves onto this site.

If any part of this site is difficult to use, contact Sprout Realty and tell us what you were trying to do. We will help you get the information directly, and we will fix the underlying problem. We treat accessibility reports as defects, not feedback.
